Staying Positive

Have a positive support group

Avoid negative people.  Having a group of friends where you can enjoy lots of laughter can make a huge difference.

Be kind to yourself

Sometimes we can be our own biggest critic.  The more we talk negatively to ourselves the more it becomes a habit.  Learn to be kind to yourself. Retrain your mind

Be actively grateful for what you have

Be actively grateful for what you have – using a gratitude diary is a great way to help do this.  At the end of each day write something in your diary from that day that has been positive.  It doesn’t need to be much.  Maybe your favourite dinner, good TV show, good day at school.

Believe in yourself

Don’t let vague fears hold you back from doing what you want – self doubt is one of the things that can make it most difficult to have a positive outlook in life.  Believe in yourself and don't let self doubt stop you.

Add value and just be kind

Add value and positivity to someone else’s life. There is a saying that you get out of life what you put in.  If you are kind to yourself and others, that will  have a massive impact on many lives around you.  You will also find that people are kinder to you when you are kind to them.  So be kind to yourself and to others.  It helps us all grow.

Make your day mindful

Move through the day mindfully – spending time in the present moment, focussing on what you are doing right now allows you to connect with positive emotions more easily.  When you get lost in future worries and concerns or fretting about things that have already happened,  it often ends up dragging you down, making you feel miserable. Thinking about what you are doing throughout the day will keep you grounded and focussed.

Exercise your body and mind

Exercising is great for both your body and your mind.  Find something that you enjoy.  It might be running, football, darts, bowling, swimming or dancing.  Whatever you enjoy best.
